We arrived in Duluth at the Lakehead Boat Basin. We have a view of the recreational marina close to the famous Aerial lift bridge. While walking Bailey I happen to be just in time to take a few pictures of a cargo ship coming in.
This Marina rents out their winter boat storage for RVs to camp in the summertime. It is all blacktop and the spaces are tight. But great if you want to visit Duluth. The location of the marina is close to downtown (10 blocks) and the Canal Park Area (3 blocks) allowing you to leave your vehicle and tour many sites on foot. The Marine Museum located in Canal Park is the most visited tourist attraction in Minnesota. The marina is the best area to view the July 4th fireworks and the closest RV area to the Bayfront Park (10 blocks) which hosts the Blues Festival (August) plus many other outdoor concerts.
The RV parking is no more than a parking lot Big Rig accessible however maneuvering can be tricky depending on how many cars are parked in front of your site.
Lakehead Boat Basin offers 30 RV parking sites. Twelve of the sites have water, electric and sewer. These sites are located immediately to the right as you enter into the gated area and overlook the main front dockage area of the marina. The other eighteen sites have electric and water. These sites are located to the left and behind the building and overlook the Duluth hills, marina, and the famous Ariel Lift Bridge. All locations are on blacktop (area used for boat storage in the winter).
